ARMAND COECK
I'm looking for guitar scores by the Belgian composer Armand Coeck. Especially EVOCATION and REQUIEM.

His scores are not available in the UK as far as I can tell. If anyone can help, I'd be really grateful.

You can buy them in Amsterdam:

http://www.broekmans.com/en/search_shop2.cfm?catalogus=1&stringSearch=coeck&LetterComponist=-&LetterArtikel=-&InteresseGroepId=-&x=89&y=3

That shop also does international shipping. Good taste by the way Smile

Also, does anyone know of any available recordings of 'Evocation' or indeed of any of Coeck's guitar music? The Gino Herman CD of him playing Coeck's guitar works seems to be out of print...

Re: ARMAND COECK
Surprisingly, no recordings of 'Evocation' exist. There have been a few recordings of Coeck's masterpiece 'Constellations' notably by Simon Dinnigan and Gino Herman. The great Belgian guitarist Gino Herman recorded a number of Coeck's works on 'Gino Herman plays Armand Coeck' but, as mentioned, this is no longer available and 'Evocation' wasn't included on the recording anyway.

The good news is that there is a new CD of Coeck's music played by Gino Herman and others. The title is 'Armand Coeck: Contemporary Guitar Music' and is available from www.guitare-diffusion.com. Six of the tracks are solo guitar pieces: Séraphîta, Carnaval, Capriccio, Requiem, Studie no. 1 and Avondzang.

There is also a CD available with the terrific set of seven new pieces for guitar written by Coeck called "Roadbook for the Young Guitarist". The book and CD is available from www.guitare-diffusion.com. There are samples of this work played by Antoon Vandeborght at both guitare-diffusion and at: http://www.antoonvandeborght.com. It really is fabulous stuff.

Stoneman,

Thanks for all that great information. I seem to recall a recording of 'Evocation' on Auurk's website at

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=159940967

Auurk are Coeck's publishers in Belgium. I can't remember who the guitarist was. The recording's not there anymore but there is a nice version of Coeck's 'Requiem' on there.

Is Coeck's 'Roadbook for the Young Guitarist' an instruction book? Or a suite of pieces? The samples sound very interesting, by the way.
