New A.Gilardino work free download

From David Norton’s Live Journal of today:

A Quiet Song", to the memory of John W. Duarte
"It was two weeks ago today that the sad news arrived that the famous British musician John Duarte had passed away.

For some months previously, I had been toying with the idea of commissioning Angelo Gilardino with writing a new solo classical guitar piece for me. The news from London of Duarte's death spurred me to take action on this idea, especially considering that Angelo and Jack had been friends, and also that Angelo had published a number of Duarte's pieces with Berben Publications of Italy.

In the remarkably short time span of 11 days, Maestro Gilardino has delivered a wonderful new work. Because it is important to Angelo and to myself that Jack Duarte's memory be commemorated openly, I am posting these files "for free download"

Feel free to use and share these files as you wish. They are offered by Angelo and myself in the same spirit of generosity which John Duarte showed to so many."

The files (mp3 and pdf) are now available also at angelogilardino.com

Regards

CP

On every guitar forum there is one Giraldino's pupil spamming it with "genial" works from his teacher.
Thank you Cristiano. Hope it will help to your career Smile.

Re: New A.Gilardino work free download
Perhaps, before answering or commenting message, one should read them. Cristiano did not write the message in question. It was written - as clearly indicated in its first line - by the North American guitarist David Norton, who is no Gilardino student. A performer living in Salt Lake City and a friend of the late John W. Duarte, he commissioned from AG a piece for commemorating the British composer and - with a gesture commenting itself - he made the score and a midifile of the piece freely available to several guitar forum: is there anything wrong with that? Cristiano was called in by Mr. Norton for a help. Worried about the possible number of downloads from his own website - which might cause problems with his  ISP - Norton asked Cristiano to kindly make room on his (Cristiano's) website to the files for download, to avoid too much traffic. This did not seem to have caused problems to anybody, so far. I do not expect my ex-students to label my works as "genial" - though I expect they are able to spell correctly the author's surnames - and I have taught them to rely upon, for the good of their careers, just on the quality of their playing: Cristiano's one is documented in some hundreds concerts, in half a dozen records which everybody can listen to and judge by himself, and in some prizes he won in competitions.
This is all. This forum has a moderator, perhaps he should kindly give a glance to this thread.

Maestro Gilardino, I apologize for not writing your name properly, but I was writing my email in between my experiments. Agil, there was no need for spending so much time explaning this. I had to comment after witnessing Mr. Gilardion's self promotion for years and seeing Mr. Cristiano's selfpromotion regarding his new CD with Mr. Gilardino's compositions on many forums. I am a music enthusiast and know a lot about music world, and one thing I dislake is when you encourage young musicians not to concentrate on their artistic values, but to become restles selfpromoters. Note that I am not going into value of the music they are promoting (please note that I also never questioned Cristiano's skills as a musician), but the way they do it. Maybe there should be a bit more measure in it. Just for the sake of a good taste.

Re: New A.Gilardino work free download
you are aware that agil and Angelo Gilardino are one and the same, right?
also, this was not a shameless promotion at all, but an offering of a piece (for free, mind you) for all guitarists.  This piece (if you are not aware) was written in MEMORY of the late John Duarte.  I personally think that this is a beautiful gesture, and would like to commend Mr. Gilardino on his efforts to the memory of Mr. Duarte.  Furthermore, it seems to me that you are simply trying to stir up anger (towards a subject that you may be angry about for personal reasons) within a community of friendly guitarists and all around good people.  i may not speak for everyone, however i would personally appreciate it if you (and anyone else who this may apply to) please refrain from such messages, as it is simply bothersome, and messages like yours just detract from the good of the forum.  please do not take offense to anything that i may have said in this message, i would just prefer not to see rude comments regarding sincere and noble threads.  also, please figure out why certain people may repeat messages before attacking them.  neither of these posts were promotions, shameless or otherwise, just 2 musicians trying to share music with their friends, colleagues, and peers.
thank you for your apology in advance.

1. Yes, I am aware who is Agile, but I dislike obvious and tried to ignore it Smile. (I would rathet talk to Agile over a bottle of good Italian wine)
2. Do not worry, I am not going to apologize, because I am not sure for what
3. If there was no conflict in opinions, there would be no progress
4. You should welcome everyones opinions, even when they are against your ideas- it is called being open minded

Maybe you messages are the watchers of the general good taste - maybe - but for sure you do not say the truth. Self promotion happens when, upon nothing or very little, one tries to obtain the consideration and the approval normally given to relevant and deserving output (if any). One is trying to self-promote when, having nothing or very little to show, acts so as to fool people into believing that he is a great player, a relevant composer, an influential teacher. I challenge you to quote from any of my messages - with avoiding extrapolation, of course - a single sentence where a single word of self.appreciation is expended: just one, where I said: careful, people, I did this and this is very good. I remain in wait.

I gave informations about the existence of some works of mine, it is true: is there anything wrong with this? Considering that I expended much less space and attention for my own works than for other composer's works - from Respighi to the authors of The Andrés Segovia Archive - of which I have been the discoverer and the editor, what and why does disturb you with the information that I have commemorated my old friend Jack Duarte with composing a piece to his memory and with offering it for free - music and soundfile - to everybody? According to how I behaved, there is only one answer: you are disturbed because this music, and its author, exist. Sorry, but I cannot please you at the point of erasing myself and my work. For your category of problem, there is only one healthy issue: to accept the fact that there are
artists who create works and performances. Accept it peacefully, and do the same, if you can.

I think unansweredquestion didn't say that you did that selfpromotion, but Christiano in other ocassion did, I think he try to say that you teach "selfpromotion" (not that I think so), and I think that he don't like your "genial" works (as said in his own words, once again not my opinion).

He clearly wrote:

"I had to comment after witnessing Mr. Gilardion's self promotion for years"

and this is untrue. No problem with the fact one may dislike one author's work, but this does not entitle anybody to spread in a public forum statements which have no fundament in the facts and which tend to represent a person in a negative light with sheer inventions. A criticism toward a work is perfectly legitimate, and disagrements about values and relevance of art work are normal of a civilized discussion, false statements about the behaviour of a person as such are quite another matter, toward which I do not feel available. I am serious and respectful toward everybody, and I do not tolerate attacks ad hominem.

One more thing I like to say:

El maestro Gilardino is a worldwide composer, guitarrist, transciptor a complete musician; now, who the ···· are you unansweredquestion? Angry

Sure you sound smart, with knowledge and experience but you are not that prudent at all.
Or perhaps you are a better musician than Agil, are you?

Re: some thoughts
hi,
just a thought.....

for people like me, it is a great plesure to have mr.gilardino on such forums.....
i think a certain amount of seriousness does need to go into this fact.
i mean , lets make the most of the time that we have on the forum...and absorb as much from people like mr.agil , meaning there are other important issues right?
and to say what 'unansweredquestion' has said about mr.agil's students...its obnoxious to have said that...........guys...let have some clearminded people on this forum, not unanswered questions!!!!
