Biography
Classical guitarist Fabian Carrera plays with a special sensitivity and warm passion for his instrument.
Born in Ecuador, he began guitar studies at the knee of his beloved father Ulpiano. Further studies were completed at the ‘National Music Conservatory of Quito’ resulting in guitar performance and music education degrees.
Among his teachers were the maestros: Carlos Bonilla Chávez. Terry Pazmiño, and Alirio Diaz.
Venues have included: the Corcoran Museum (Washington DC), Ecuadorian Consulate in New York City, Baltimore Art Museum, National Symphonic Orchestra of Ecuador, Columbia Chorale and the Southwest Washington Symphony to name a few.
As an infant, Carrera contracted polio which resulted in paralysis from the neck down until five years of age. Miraculously he regained the use of his body.
Currently he resides in the United States with his wife as he continues to perform concerts and teach.
