Hidrobo, Homero (1939 - 1979 Quito, Ecuador)
Biography

Music was indeed Homero Hidrobo's signature, with expertise in the areas of: popular, folk and amazingly, classical as well.
Hidrobo gave the best of himself to classical guitar. His restless soul, creative spirit led to an undeniable virtuosic technique. His performances highlighted impeccable craftsmanship for classical repertoire. Lending his musicianship to each piece played while respecting the technical parameters required of classical literature, Hidrobo captured the essence of each composition.

Three LP's testify to this fact, as he performed incredibly difficult repertoire, such as the high level works of J.S. Bach's "Ciaccona"; "The Cathedral" by Agustin Barrios Mangoré, " La Maja de Goya " by Granados, and many others. He also arranged several compositions of Ecuadorian national music consisting of complex counterpoint; among them this beautiful pasillo: "Canta Cuando Me Ausente" (Sing, Though I Be Absent) composed by his father Marco.

A quote by Maestro Hidrobo sums up the philosophy behind this artistry,
"Music is the expression of the soul when its interpretation is the result of love. Music was created for all that surrounds it, even the simple, ,little things. The moment I begin to play, thoughts become void. Rather I lose myself in the emotion which vibrates through each one of the guitar's strings from my soul."
