The year 1669 was the first time the name "Hopf" was heard in combination with instrument making. Since this time the profession of instrument making goes from father to son.
Dieter Hopf, born 1936 in Zwota/Vogtland (Germany), started with an education for two years in making violins, then he specialised in making guitars.
Since 1949 he lived in Taunusstein (also Germany). Since 1968 he is master craftsman in guitar making.
His instruments were/ are played by eg. Alexandre Lagoya, Jorge Morel, Baden Powell and David Qualey.
